Any Good Restaurants Near Tower Bridge Area
20 Answers
Hi All,
I'm taking my hubby to London for his 40th next month.
I've booked a room with a view of Tower Bridge.
I'm taking him up the shard and to Tower of London during the day.
I don't know London very well, but I just need somewhere decent to take him for a meal (preferably in the same area).
Somewhere not too fancy or too expensive.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Pricewise, I don't know, what someone thinks is reasonable is somebody else's expensive, the menu is on the website so you can have a look yourself. Stunning views though.

I went up the Shard about a week ago. Just wanted to say that if you have any I would recommend you take binoculars. They have "telescopes" up there, except they are not telescopes, they have day and night settings but they are not really showing what is there right now. Try to look at a boat moving on the river through them and you will notice it is not there!
yes, the Oxo Tower is good. It's three bridges along. You don't get so many restaurants in the City of London because there aren't many people there at night, but ther are more on the south bank or further west into Westminster. I like the Tas restaurants - there are a few on the south bank

There's a cafe rouge at hays galleria I think, given that you want somewhere reasonably priced, as well as other eateries all the way along the south side of river from tower bridge to the national theatre. Going the other way, along shad Thames and butlers wharf, there are also a number of reasonably priced places including an ASK Italian restaurant and a couple of pizza places.
You won't be stuck for somewhere to eat in that area if you're south side, it's lovely strolling along past city hall, hms Belfast, the golden hind replica, Shakespeare's globe and Tate modern, all the way to the national theatre, royal festival hall and London eye.

there's a Strada at the south of Tower Bridge that has a great view of the bridge; we ate there one night and saw the bridge raised three times. Food's nothing special, though. We've also sat outside Pont de la Tour in Shad Thames and seen the bridge going up and down from there. Food more expensive but worth it.
If you're staying at the actual Guoman Tower Hotel (I've stayed there 3 times) there are some quite nice places 5 mins walk away in St Katharine's dock behind the hotel. An excellent Indian, a gastro pub thing and several other bistros. Google St Katharine's Dock, it's a very pretty marina area. Hope you both have a lovely time.
Strada or Cafe rouge are always good, specially if you can get a two-for-one voucher code. Otherwise try The Dickens behind the Tower Hotel in St Katherine's Dock. Lovely around there. And you could take a boat trip from the Tower either to Greenwich or Westminster or both, really good tour, do a round trip. Go to the Toer, it will take half a day to see everything but well worth it. If you can get Tesco Rewards Days Out Vouchers you can get in free.
St Kats Dock is fairly salubrious and nice for a romantic walk discussing which yacht to buy, as is Butlers Wharf for a lovely stroll, there's sure to be a nice riverside or back street restaurant that takes your fancy there.
