Brits Abroad -Why Do Some People Have To Show Themselves Up?

We stayed at a quiet lovely hotel on Zakynthos last week. There were a couple of well-behaved french children, some middle-aged scottich people and quite a few eastern european couples. Everyone was nice, demure, respectful. Come Saturday, start of UK school holidays we get the influx of Brits abroad-noisy uncontrolled kids dive bombing into the pool, fat women squeezed into size 20 bikinis (they really should not make bikinis above size 14) getting their tits out and flopping all over the place - wobbly fat-bellied tattooed men swilling beer all day. Why do some Brits act so common when they are abroad?

Sorry all for your fight, but op has a point. Brits abroad have a terrible reputation, for certain groups and ages. Thats not just about being judgemental, its about boundaries and acceptable behaviour. You may have an issue with the authenticity of the poster (I cant understand this troll hunting) but the point is that we do have a terrible reputation abroad...

I never, ever wear make up. I consider it good going if I leave the house and all the kids have matching shoes on. We go on holidays to child-friendly places so that our children have a fab time, not to places where are judged on our appearances. I suppose it depends on your priorities and what makes you happy.
tragic, insecure, ridiculous, desperate - sisterhood rules
Semi-perm make-up is the way forward. Themorrigan, you should try it. Much better than walking around with black eyes and sand stuck to your lips!

I bet the OP wears heels on the beach too.... ;)

ah, rosetta I see, its not the post as such, its the poster ?
Agreed Brits DO have a terrible reputation abroad.
However, I think that's more the groups of young adults that go to Kavos/Magaluf/Zakynthos and spend all week vomiting in the gutter.

well yes, but the locals serve them cheap booze, and keep serving it until they're all virtually blotto. and then complain when they puke (etc) in the street.
isn't anyone going to tell me what BB and bronzer are??...
I think it's Beauty Balm.. a moisturiser that also covers imperfections, etc. and bronzer is like fake tan make up for the face.

not really for the beach or poolside, lol

Bronzer- sold to gullible women who think it makes them look 'sunkissed' when in fact it makes them look like Sunkist ;-)
lol sara last time I was in Italy I think the majority of Italian ladies wore full make-up to the beach. None of them went into the sea................
well that just says it all, craft.. thinking they're there to be admired rather than actually having a good time!

*note to self - don't go on the beach in Italy*
They were all 'Nancy Dellolios'...............
ooooooooooh, nice. themorrigan should have gone to Italy!

I think she'd have been right at home ;-)
aah ok! - why didn't you say so sooner?!

right then, here goes ... ahem ...

oh my god that is a terrible thing to say, its whats inside that counts, don't be so judgmental, i bet you're fat too, theres bad in every country, id rather be on holiday with them than a boring snob like you, some brits are bad but not all, lighten up ... erm ...

... how am i doing? have i missed anything?
lol very entertaining thread :)
I agree with the OP, kids can enjoy themselves without running riot, and adults shouldn't need to resort to loutish behaviour to have a good time.

I also think larger ladies (myself included) look better in a one-piece swimsuit, rather than a bikini.
On the other hand, mrs. C, I have sometimes demurred at the prospect of wearing my (large) twopiece abroad, only to see larger German ladies with almost nothing on at all, making me feel postively sylph-like :-)
some should take a look at the Germans on the beach, or by the pool, all that beer has to go someplace.
