We stayed at a quiet lovely hotel on Zakynthos last week. There were a couple of well-behaved french children, some middle-aged scottich people and quite a few eastern european couples. Everyone was nice, demure, respectful. Come Saturday, start of UK school holidays we get the influx of Brits abroad-noisy uncontrolled kids dive bombing into the pool, fat women squeezed into size 20 bikinis (they really should not make bikinis above size 14) getting their tits out and flopping all over the place - wobbly fat-bellied tattooed men swilling beer all day. Why do some Brits act so common when they are abroad?
Sorry all for your fight, but op has a point. Brits abroad have a terrible reputation, for certain groups and ages. Thats not just about being judgemental, its about boundaries and acceptable behaviour. You may have an issue with the authenticity of the poster (I cant understand this troll hunting) but the point is that we do have a terrible reputation abroad...
'Fun' and/or inconsiderate aspect aside - is dive bombing dangerous? Is that why it's prohibited in some pools? Are there different safety rules overseas?
I suppose somebody COULD be injured by a dive bomber - an awkward landing could result in a neck injury to an unsuspecting pool user. I wouldn't fancy having a 20 stone bloke land on my head.
Clink? That's a word I've not heard in a long time. Nice to know you noticed my absence, Svejk.
Aye, you've got me sussed. I went daaaaaaarn for a six-month stretch, reduced to three weeks for good behaviour.
I flipped (too much time on AB) and decided to hold up the local bookies with a sawn-off shotgun. Didn't get far.....unfortunately I sawed the wrong end off the shotgun.
Was grabbed by the finishing post and thrown in the slammer. :o/
It was ever thus. Years ago went to Tenerife for Christmas and new year. Just after new year rates dropped and influx of Brits. Carrying cans of beer and teak interior of lifts were soon scored with graffiti. Ashamed to be British.
