Can anyone help with the following from the Hobbies & Sports Quiz. The answers are all hobbies or sports:

Fish with mixed drink (7 letters)-------
Bird with direction + y (8 letters)--------

Good suggestion but although I can see the bird and the Y I can't see how the direction gives us an R (I'd expect N,E,W or S)

Not sure with Falconry elliemay1. I keep thinking 'with direction+y' do they mean it could have say east + y in it somewhere. Perhaps you are right as falcons do sweep down to catch their prey. Thanks for the help though.

Yes, the R is for right which is a direction.

If you had e.g east +y that would only leave 3 letters for Bird. (Just a thought.)

Thanks factor-fiction and quinie. I can see where the direction comes from now. I'll go with 'Falconry' elliemay1. Any other ideas for fish with mixed drink (7 letters)?

I agree that the first one probably ends in ING. Skating doesn't quite work because the fish is a SKATE, unless the clue says something along the lines of 'sounds like....'

Fishing seems too obvious,
Angling fails unless fish= angle and a 'sounds like' answer is allowed
