The Returned - Possible Spoiler!
17 Answers
I'd like to know other viewers opinions of the last episode of The Returned, as I felt that it was a real disappointment - I thought that something really creepy might happen, the episodes leading up to it had been quite scary in parts.

I know they are making a second series so I expected a bit of suspense at the end of this episode/series but last night didn't explain or resolve anything. What was that mob of returned people all about, why did they insist that the others should join them? What had happened the the wound on Lena's back? What is the significance of the drowned village popping up like that overnight? Why couldn't Julie and co. leave the town? Too many unanswered questions!
Well the baby has been fathered by a dead man so I guess he is counted as "one of them" - how weird is that though? Will it be born "living" or "dead"? Why do they insist that they must all be together? What will happen to the living people (Julie and Lena's Mum ) who went with them? Most unsatisfactory. Can't wait for thre next series!
I agree, too many unanswered questions, but I almost knew this would be the case! If the Others insisted on getting everyone back then why were they returned in the first place? what was achieved by it all, apart from a story obviously. I did enjoy it though, something completely different for a change.
// Though I did think the submerged village was (possibly) a kind of 'payment' for Adele not joining them,as they wanted her baby. //
I thought the village at the end was the dead people's village re-emerging from the lake.
// And-what is the significance of that baby? //
Simon is the father so he wants it.

*Possible Spoiler*
The beginning segment showed the loss of life that occurred when there was a previous failure of the dam.
Mrs Costa was heard to say that "...the dead will have their revenge."
The emerging village was a way of showing that the water-level in the lake behind the dam was dropping.......as well as being quite creepy.
The final scene showed that the dam had failed once again and flooded the village.
I had hoped that there would be some concrete answers to the questions raised, but didn't feel as dissatisfied at the conclusion as I have with some series.
I hope, that being French rather than American, the writers/producers will have a definite story-arc in mind rather than just padding-out and stretching the premise beyond the limits of my patience.
