Me personally I'd not get an exercise machine. Eating in moderation and walking briskly for at least 45 minutes would help in your achievement of loosing weight, and toning muscles. Also, choose you food wisely; eat nutritious food, not food filled with empty calories.

You get that machine -
1. it would take up space
2. you'll use it for a bit, like maybe a few weeks and then become bored of it
3. it would however become a clothes hanger
Society has answered in the same way as I was about to.
Don't waste your money!
I had one once - they are OK but don't half make your floorboards vibrate. But they won't make you lose weight. They are OK for a work-out but the only way to lose weight is to eat less.
You've got to be fit to use a cross trainer, which is why I have a treadmill.
