sounds like solanoid


also try putting car in 3rd gear and rock back and for two or three times it might be a flat spot on the flywheel


before doing all that check the battery

First, to prove the electrics, are the ignition lights on when you turn the ignition key? If NO, you have a flat battery and it will need charging.


If YES then the starter motor is stuck in the flywheel. This can be released by purtting the car in 3rd gear and rocking backward and forward. That is assuming that your car is manual and NOT auto!
