hi i sold a pick up only item on sunday. Just after the auction ended i was contacted by someone else who had tried to bid in the last few moments and it hadn't gone thru. She asked if i would sell it to her at a higher price than i previously got, I replied saying i would sell to her if the first person fell thru. Today the silly first person got on to me saying it was too far for her to come!
so i contacted the second person to say they could buy it. I would like to sell it to her off ebay to save the fianl fee but how do i now withdraw it/stop selling it to the first person?
the first bidder has to request her bid be withdrawn i think. but doing the deal off ebay now is i think against their rules, though quite how they would enforce them i don;t know, the other person withdraws their bid, you agree to it and then you have to convince ebay the sale did not go through and they cancel the final value fee.
Go to the resolution centre and you will see an option to cancel the transaction whereby no-one has a strike against their name- and you mutually consent to cancel the transaction. Choose this option for the first bidder and ask them to agree to it so you don't get chareged a final valuation fee.To complete the sale off ebay contact the second person via your email account, ( not via ebay messages) and arrange as you would if you had sold it via the newspaper.
You have to ask the first buyer to cancel the transaction. You have to start the process by clicking on the cancel a transaction link in 'my ebay' you need to give a reason for the cancellation, there is a drop down list of reasons, one of which is buyer can not complete the transaction , which seems to cover this.
