Cheap Family Holiday Reccommendations??
Can anyone share stories of a family holiday they have enjoyed? We're looking to go away next year and our children will be 6 and 4
I'd ideally like a holiday village but some seem quite expensive. All inclusive or half board would be good
I'd like something that has plenty to do onsite but we could wander around if we wanted to

I found the island very child friendly with lots of day time excursions.

I'm not sure if I would choose Turkey nor Egypt at the moment but then i'm one of those overly anxious Mums and i'm not sure how much they have to offer for young children anyway.I have been to Turkey, i'll say no more :/ I'm sure there are better resorts than Marmaris.
Have you considered Sunny Beach , Bulgaria ? Thought i'd throw that into the mix...wonderful :)
Have a fantastic time choosing, that's half the fun :)

For that money then somewhere like club mac in Mallorca may be what you are looking for. Not been myself but relatives have, some liked it and others didn't. From what I have been told it is a marmite type of place, either you will love it or hate it. It is all inclusive and plenty to do for children, but it is basic. I have put on link for it below.

How weird. I've always had club mac in my mind. I keep coming back to it. It has everything i want and its cheap so if we wanted we could skip a few meals and eat out a couple of times through the holiday if we wanted a change. It has a bus that runs you to and from the beach.
It would be October 2014 so I'm not sure how the weather would be there but anything would be better than the weather we are having just now!!
I've been to Tenerife a few times so fancy a change
I'm not sure if we should get something a few hundred pound more and never have to leave the resort

October is Mallorcas wettest month, and you'll only get around 3 hours of sun a day. Temp will be about 19 degrees - so not great.
Personally, I don't see the point in spending all that money to go somewhere not much better than the UK.
What about Cyprus? You still run the risk of some light showers, but overall it'll be much warmer, with average highs of 29 degrees.
Paphos is lovely, and there's so much to see and do. If you're going for a week then I'd spend 4 days in the hotel/resort and 3 days hiring a car and taking in all the amazing sights that it has to offer.
If you want to go down the holiday village route, then First Choice will probably be your best bet, but they are incredibly overpriced and with being 'all inclusive' you kind of feel like you're stuck to the resort.
Personally, with children of that age, I would look at going half board. All Inclusive, in my opinion, is only really worthwhile if you're planning on going on holiday and making full use of the "free" bar - which I'm assuming is not something you'd do with young children! :-) It also means you don't have to stay at the resort/hotel all day and are free to wander around, picking up lunch on your travels, and heading back to your hotel for dinner.

Hi, as Baby-Sham says it could be wet there in October. When I answered I didn't know which month you were thinking of going. Also the beginning of October is when most things start to close for the winter on Mallorca. From what family have said to me Club Mac is best visited in either June or September when it is not packed as with 3 hotels it can get quite hectic in main season.
