If it's long term it could be a variety of things. Some people get it from drinking milk (due to the lactose) - can be solved by drinking lactose-free or soya milk. Other common problems are IBS - avoiding certain foods help this (a google search will tell you which kind of foods, i can't remember off the top of my head).
But yeah, it's worth seeing the doc to check it out. If it's something more serious (i won't scare you with details coz people always do that and chances are it's nothing serious) they can give you medication to prevent it.
