Don't know which. It was just below my left eye on the side of my nose. It swelled up a lot at the time which nearly closed my eye. I now have a black eye and the wound has turned nasty. I can take all the comments on what does the other guy look like, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat the wound?

What do you mean by "the wound has turned nasty2? Is it inflamed, weeping, hot to the touch, discoloured?
Have you tried rubbing antiseptic cream on it, Jeza.
if it has only just swollen since sunday, maybe it's infected and a visit to your gp for antibiotics may be wise.
Definitely go to the doctor.

It swelled up straight away. I bathed it with dettol and applied antiseptic cream. A lot of the swelling has now gone down but it's now yellowish.
If the area that appeared black and bruised -looking is now yellow, then it is probably healing. Keep an eye on the wound (as to weeping etc). I would leave the wound. It will heal on it`s own.
Question Author
It is the wound that is yellowish not the skin. I still have a black eye.
See you GP today as you may well need antibiotics as this is a particularly "dangerous area."
agreed. GP time

if it hasnt happened before you have an infected horse fly bite.

terrible pain in the ar+e - I spend my summers in jeans and long sleeve shirts.

I rang the surgery this morning. Spoke to the practise nurse who said "If it's no better by Monday ring back" what did Sqad mean by 'dangerous area'
By Monday !, I'd go to a walk in centre if I were you, Jeza.
Question Author
Can't do that Tony. I can't leave Mic for the time it will take. Anyway it's much better tonight than it was yesterday.
Right, I understand Jeza, keep putting antiseptic cream on though.
Question Author
Will do Tony, I have also been using dettol to keep it clean.
Yes, Dettol is good stuff, Jeza.
have you taken an antihistamene too?
Question Author
Must look that up Dot. I know the word though.
