Does anyone remember a musical about a park keeper (possibly called Herbert Pringle?) kicking around primary schools in the 70s? Driving myself and sister crazy.
Yes-I played the lead role in my final year of primary school and can still remember many of the words and songs. "Herbert Pringle, let's keep, everything tidy, Herbert Pringle, let's keep everything straight." he started out as a grumpy man having spent many years tidying up after kids, a reporter came to see him to any lts of questions, and ended up being presented with an award by the mayor and mayoress. What a result! Hope this helps!
Deep in the city
There isn't much space
If you should want
A qui-et place
The streets are noisy
The buildings are dark
But there is peace
In Her-er-buts park
All those roundabouts and swings
And those trees and grass and things
Not very big
And not very grand
But it is free
And close at hand
....
I love park-keeping
Particularly
Now they have raised
My salary
I can put up with
The noise and the (? Tweaks)
If I take home
More cash each week!
Cant remember any more...sorry...I think 1974 give or take a year...music makers
