I think the letters are -o-o-p- if I have the rest correct so boniface wouldn't fit!

Don't look JimJools!

With 7 letters, it appears that you have options - but Boniface is not one of them!. St Bernard or Barnard look favourites.

It looks like Saint Botolph
Thanks for that star-ling. It should be St Botolph
sorry that is Botulph so the U could be wrong.
Don't forget there's an "alt sp" in place!
Yes and both spellings are coming up on Google.
I agree that it must be Botolph but the spelling of escallop is wrong. It should be escalope according to the dictionaries I have consulted. He was wrong last week saying that Rio was the largest port in Brazil it is Sao Paolo.
'Escallop' is given as an alternative spelling in the Oxford dictionary.
trouble is, botolph is listed as the patron saint of travellers

St Isidore comes up on Google as patron saint of farming: Escalope comes up in Collins:

However ,playing the game (ie fiddling the answers) it looks like Botolph to me too.

arpeggio These patron saints put themselves about! Saint Botolph (alt sp) is variously the patron saint of agriculural workers, farm workers, sailors and (of course you're quite right) travellers!
Sorry about that, janbrix, I did check in Chambers and the latest Collins, the Oxford does say "variant spelling of escalope". He really is a pain with has variant spellings!
Sorry! I cannot spell HIS now!!
He, the compiter, never said variant spelling for 'escalope'. It has to be 'escallop' because it's the one that fits.

Have you tried St. Dorothy?
