Don't know if you science folks have read it but for light reading from an author who is no expert but makes a great book go out and buy 'A Short History of Nearly Everything' by Bill Bryson. It is for the novice general scientist with a bit of everything thrown in starting with the Big Bang right through today! If you don't want to get clogged up with technical stuff and like a bit of humour thrown in, this is the book for you. To read an excerpt go here,

Hi Dagman, I read this book a couple of years ago and found it very helpful as it gave an interesting and unpatronising account of many questions we all want to ask but don't know where to start with them.

Bill Bryson manages a calm and entertaining read and would also recommend it.

I read this book a while ago its an absolute belter. Also books by paul davies and mark chown will blow your mind. Cosmos by carl Sagan is also very good but its a little bit outdated now, but definitely worth a look. Theres another book on the life of feynman which is also a brilliant read, I cant remember the name of the author.

Grrr! Somebody gave me this book and I took it on holiday to read and left it there without having read a word!

Somebody will have to give me another copy.

The feynman book could well be 'Genius" by James Gleick.
