This doesn't seem to be the case now where I am in Somerset, there's been loads of them in the last couple of days!

some wasps, nowhere near as many as usual and no nests. Loads of bees of various kinds, very few ladybirds. loads of moths and butterflies and plenty of birds...later this month I hope the bats will be back.
