It serves justice and sends the message that just because you have evaded the police for quite some time it doesn't mean you are forgiven. Unlike the subject of illegal immigrants, we don't get some political individual suggesting an amnesty on mafia bosses.

The issue is not about his family, it is about justice being served.

The 'good' is that this man serves the sentence meted out to him by the criminla justice system, which takes no account of a criminal's activities after he has absconded and evaded justice.

The notion 'Mafia man goes to prison ... unless he's built a new life abroad ...' is not how the law works.
