It's probably just the relief that he feels ok, making him appear to take what he has been through in a light hearted way. He was probably in the hospital worried to death ........

Main thing is, he's still here and almost the same (lost some of his spark and is knackered all of the time). He knows how worried we all were (well, I think he understood what I was saying through the sobs).

I know exactly how you feel .Mr S was so annoyed that he may have missed out on his pension when he was diagnosed with the big one .
He said ..I'm buggered if I've worked all these years just to let them have my money ..lol. ..and he got through it all quite cheerfully .
I was the one falling to bits .

Sherr, I do understand - it is a form of 'gallows humour' and is a sort of survival technique.

Maybe he is trying to keep his deeper feelings hidden from everyone, this is just a cover up, if you like for what's really going on inside. Like most of us, he was probably scared to bits inside but not prepared yet to admit it
