The reaction to this new BBC 2 series has been mixed but personally, I have found it to be very funny and well written. I started off thinking that it wasn't as good as the original Radio 4 version. The casting of Rory Kinnear was a master-stroke. Last week when they were sheltering in the store room was very funny. And last night was hilarious...very dark ending however.

I didn't find it at all funny. I thought it was awful.I kept watching as I thought it couldn't get any sillier but I'm afraid it did!

I agree mikey, I too thought it wasn't as good as the radio series, but the TV version has got better as it has gone along. Either that, or I'm getting used to the changes to the TV Arthur Strong.

I think that it is getting better every week, last night's was the best yet, but is still not as funny as the radio shows. Yes, Rory Kinnear is good but I coudn't see the point of last nights ending.

I seem to remember that "One Foot in the Grave" ended with Victor being run over, so maybe what happened to Katia last night wasn't so odd. Its certainly quirky. Not quite sure where they will go for the next series though.

I think CAS is a 'marmite' show - I never found the radio show funny, so I didn't bother with the TV version either.

mikey - re. Victor's fatal accident, that was part of David Renwick's genius as a writer, he ability to recognise that comedy and tragedy are a hair's-breadth apart, and careful writing means you can work them both together to magic effect.

Witness the one and only time that reference was made to the Meldrews' loss of a child in infancy - it lasted about fifteen seconds, and was never mentioned again, but it was such a touching moment in the normal chaos.

Perfect comedy.
