There are growing concerns that an al Qaeda affiliate could use a new generation of liquid explosive, currently undetectable, in a potential attack. The new tactic allows terrorists to dip ordinary clothing into the liquid to make the clothes themselves into explosives once dry.

How do we counter that?

And the first one who says we all fly naked can go and stand in the corner! :o)

perhaps we should not jest about this, the London bombers, the doctors who tried to blow up Edinburgh airport, all amongst us, leading normal lives, the call comes, they respond. not drugged up like a suicide bomber with explosives all over them, just ordinary people on the outside, harbouring a festering hate of christians and the western way of life on the inside. How many more are waiting the call? How many planes cross London towards heathrow everyday, just needs one pilot to be an islamic fanatic, and total carnage will ensue. There will be no warning, no loss of radio communication. I have been in South London and seen hundreds of planes going by all day. It will just take the one in a million, and the odds are getting shorter.

Jesting is the British way - in this instance possibly at their peril.

'their' .... 'its'. Time for bed methinks.
A serious terrorist incident is a terrible thing for the injured and the families of those killed. But, as has been said earlier in this thread, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't change anything.
Good heavens, annie! Do tell us when it is safe to come out. Good God, our parents or grandparents went to bed not knowing whether they'd be alive in the morning or survive the air raid. We lost over a million houses in the War and tens of thousands of civilians, and you are worried about a one in many millions chance in peacetime. You'd better make any aerial you have disconnected in case your house is struck by lightning.
'twas Glasgow airport Annie, Edinburgh want a pound to get a car in, even to drop off passengers so they went for the budget option.
The bold John Smeaton dealt with the flaming psycho with a boot to the 'nads as I recall.

Fred, actually I take exception to that. My husband lost several colleagues on 9/11 – and 7/7 was without doubt the worst day of my life. Fine for those who are not in the potential firing line – but not so good for those who may be. Stop being such a smartarse - it really isn't smart!
that is the thing isn't it, people can be smart when they are not remotely involved or likely to be, same when one talks of immigration having an affect. all right if you live in sleepy hollow, perhaps not so much so if you are living in a major city. Not to mention i was in the same place, not too far from the bus bomb. joke about it, not really. We have had plenty of practice too with the IRA so the idea of perhaps more to come doesn't fill me with anything but foreboding. I don't live in fear, at least not over that, but the thought comes to mind if i have to use the tube, it's hell anyway, and being caught there with a bomb going off makes me like it even less.
I was told yesterday, that there is now a way to SURGICALLY implant explosives inside a person and that they are unable to be detected by airport xray/scans/ etc. What kind of idiot does a person have to be to do something like that?
one who doesn't care about their own life, one who has no conscience over killing multitudes of people. Suicide bomber in Pakistan killed many yesterday, and so it goes on.

Although suicide is forbidden, the cause is all and martyrdom is encouraged. This is chilling.
