Titchy Set Back

Himself had a really bad head ache last night (much worse than the constant one he has at the moment). Took him to a & e and he was seen to really quickly and had a CT scan. Waited around for 2 1/2 hours for results and said we would come home and phone later as a & e doc thought things looked fine. Just rang and the medic (?) doctor has looked at the scan and there is thickening of the bit that is charge of the ears (would explain the loss of hearing) and himself has to get the GP to refer him the ENT specialist at the hospital on Monday for a same day appointment. Is this routine(ish) (mention was made of antibiotics)? Thanks.

Not sure that i understand ...BUT...

I cannot associate the hearing loss, with the leak of a cerebral aneurysm. I don't understand the "thickening" bit........

I don't think that it is necessarily a "set back" and i cannot see the need for antibiotics.

The non-a & e doctor looked at the CT scan and said there was thickening of a bit (beginning with m - really long word). Said that's why himself might have had the worse than usual headache and that it might affect his ears. I told him that his hearing is pants and he said that would fit and that he probably needs antibiotics for the thickening (assume some sort of inflection?).

Right, after some more googling - I'm going for Metencephalon and Mesencephalon (there were two similar long m words).

I'm sure it's just a tiny hiccup, just pleased that I took him and they scanned him (the local hospital was reluctant to scan him when he had his original bleed but they said we did the right thing in going back and to go back any time we feel something is not right).
