Secondary Leisons On The Brain After Cancer In The Lungs.? A Very Dear Friend Of Mine
3 Answers
had two seizures last week and when taken into hospital they found , what they believe to be cancer and two lesions on her brain that caused the seizures. She is waiting until this week for biopsy on the lungs. She is 61 and a very heavy smoker all her life. This sounds to me to be very worrying but would just like an idea of what to expect when she tells me the outcome.

This is indeed a worrying development..........the outcome is not good and will depend upon the type of lung cancer and also the confirmation of brain secondaries from the result of the brain biopsies.
Worst case scenario is that she has less than a 1 in 5 chance of living 5 yrs.

My friend and neighbour was in the situation that your friend is in. She was diagnosed with lung cancer when the disease had travelled to her brain. It depends on the type of lung cancer that is involved. Small Cell carcinoma is very malignant (for example). My friend had Squamous Cell cancer which is a bit slower to grow and spread and tends to affect the bronchus, thus rendering it inoperable. She had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and I`m sorry to say that the prognosis that she was given was accurate to within a couple of weeks.
