the one with the spained and twisted ligaments feels like its on fire and is feeling heavy - I've kept it supported and using my cream and resting it as best I can - should I worry and get it seen to again or is it normal and will pass?

what does "resting it as best I can" mean? It sounds like you might be using it too much?
I would go back to your DR, re the diagnosis......Gout springs to mind.

I'm a right-hander woofgang....I try to do as much as I can with my right hand but I had work on Saturday and work was busy so it was moved a lot through out the day...I try to just keep it still and move it as and when required. Fastening and unfastening my 'underwear' is a nightmare!

I might see if I can get an appointment Sqad - thanks
I personally don't think your doctor can help - you may need it x-rayed again in hospital.
Question Author
I wasn't sent for an x-ray Conne, just basically told to get on with it and come back if need be - only thing being he's a difficult person to get an appointment with
How long ago was the sprain?
What you have described are symptoms you would expect soon after the injury was sustained and that shouldnt last longer than 5-7 days depending on severity of the sprain. So if this is now weeks down the line, get a second opinion definitely
Question Author
It was sore for 3 weeks before I went to see the GP as I thought it would heal itself. Today it has got worse on the pain front though
Certainly take the advice of those who have suggested a further visit to GP.
If it had been hurting 3 weeks prior to GP visit, an X-Ray was surely a viable option, just to be sure nothing broken, how bad was the initail swelling and how painfull is your wrist to move - scale of 1-10?. Perhaps be a little forceful with the GP and say you really want an X-Ray.
Question Author
just got an appointment for Friday - but to try again tomorrow to see if I can get anything on Thursday. On a scale of 1-10 as far as pain goes right now its 6.5-7 I would say. Its hard to say if its swollen but I can tell you I can't get my watch round it! I will make a point of asking JD
You could always try A&E if you cannot see your doctor: at least there they would more likely xray it for you.
Question Author
this is true spoonboy, but my nearest A&E is a b*tch to actually get to, but if it gets to the point where I am driven demented with it I will make a point of going. Its hard as well as I have nobody to get me there and the transport up there is awful
When in doubt, taaxxiiiiiiiiiiiii.
Question Author
forgive me Spoonboy.....but are you paying ;) you are talking not much change off a £100 for a taxi here and back :(
That's a long way: where do you live, the Outer Hebrides?!
Queenie........no need to panic here, a routine appt with your GP will suffice and as for going to A&E, that is totally inappropriate.

I would take Ibuprofen 600mgms (3*200mgms) for the pain in the meantime and monitor the situation.
Question Author
Lol not quite the outer Hebrides but the Lothians. We are not cheap down this neck of the woods.

Will do Sqad - I've already had some Paracetamol and Codeine but its not looking at it - I'll need to wait a wee bit before I take Ibuprofen though or I'll be throwing up in no time at all

good evening queen

i am really sorry that you have wrist problems - i hope you can get it sorted
Question Author
Evening Excel

Me too :) x
Hope you find a remedy soon: I'm logging out now, but keep your chin up, it will pass in the end. Hope Ricky comes out of his coma soon, too.
