1a) MIXED UP

setter's = i'm [as the setter would say]
and headed west means reverse that = MI

due to change = EDU - the anagram in this case

which leaves:- platform = XP ?

mi xEDUp
I think XP refers to Windows (computers)
XP is Windows XP
21a) INHUMAN =nasty

smell = HUM, area = A, pub = INN -> IN hum a N
i did think of Windows for XP but am just a little surprised that it would be referred to as a platform in a non-technical crossword
I agree with the thinking for 'mixed up' - that's what I have, but could you enlighten on 1dn for which I have M?B? please?
I too am surprised with the use of XP for platform but don't see what else it could be.
MOBY is a recognised word for a mobile phone - here http://www.thefreedictionary.com/moby and in Chambers - but other than that...
5a fi(shin)g?
1d Mob (company) + Y(es)
21a In(hum) a n
