Why Do We Drink So Much Tea?

I’ve been trying to find a new tea bag after the one I usually buy has been taken off the market. There is a dazzling array of tea & tea bags out there and it has made wonder why as a nation we drink so much tea?

I last drank tea in 1995, the week my husband left. i was not allowed to have coffee in the house as the smell made him sick, thank gawd he left, I drink coffee out of buckets now.

lyall; (Or to whom it may concern) If your idea of tea is that which is produced from bags, then it is little wonder you are so disparaging: they are made from dust (fannings) in order to produce a quick brown disgusting liquid, which is then usually adulterated further by adding the even more disgusting substance; milk.
Instead try a Darjeeling tea bearing; 'SFTGFOP' ( Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) from a good tea merchant, - my choice for breakfast, brewed for at least 5 minutes in a strainer which is then removed. I confess to coffee at 11:00am. For the rest of the day it has to be green China tea; 'Silver Needle' or 'Gunpowder'. Ahh!

I may splash out sometimes and have two cups a tea in a month; otherwise, I am a coffee person.

I think 95% of my day consists of drinking tea....love the stuff. Only Teapigs will do for me. Love 'em :)

I drink coffee. If it gets cold, I still enjoy drinking it. But if I drink cold tea, it gives me indigestion.

Heathfield; Apparently there is more iced tea drunk in the USA than hot.

You can't beat a good cup of tea - and don't pollute it with additives like milk and sugar either. I drink more than the national average.

I have my tea with no milk or sugar and depending on my mood have it medium strength but sometimes have it so strong the spoon stands up in it! Ah beer yum!! Real ale from Bateman’s Brewery (other breweries available) I used to drink Flowers Original / IPA but unfortunately it hasn’t been available for a number of years. I drink rather more beer than tea, I find it very refreshing and contrary to opinion more hydrating than water. Drinking a 617 Dambuster Anniversary Special Edition beer at this very moment, very nice.
