Savings for Job seekers & Pension credits

I am 63 and unemployed, the job center have no idea re savings. Any ideas about how much savings I needto have to claim pension credits. I have worked for 40 years and have the full Nat Insurance. Any other infomation re job seekers etc will really be appreciated. Thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.As you are over 60 you should claim pension credit if entitled to it (not job seekers allowance). There is no savings limit for pension credit, but the amount of your savings can affect the amount you get. If you get a job this will also affect it. You need to contact the pension service to make a claim. I'm surprised the job centre can't advise you on this - they certainly ought to be able to!
