Until you get some replies from ABers who live in retirement properties, I suggest that you visit a few. Or have you done that already? My wife and I also had the same idea a year or so ago, and we looked at several different types of property. We noted the costs (service charge, etc.) and compared them with what we pay out at the moment on our bungalow. We also spoke...

its going to depend a lot on the way its run and the other people, and what the rules are...
I often deliver papers to retirement villages and I think they are lovely.
Do you mean a warden controlled complex or just a bungalow? Are you thinking of downsizing?

We noted the costs (service charge, etc.) and compared them with what we pay out at the moment on our bungalow. We also spoke to one or two residents in the properties that we visited. It was an interesting exercise, and, if you have not yet done it, I can recommend it.
