Cut and paste the whole document into a new doc of your own making...you should then be able to edit....
What sort of document is it? .doc, .docx, .xls ect.
I'm assuming it's a word document created by someone else and sent by e mail...

I have murraymint but its text within tables etc and I just cant change one thing without changing the whole lot
You trying to change one row or one column? Is this Word Document?
Question Author
its word. i know how to add, change, change colours of columns but it just wnt let me highlight them.
What if you simply place cursor and back delete ? Then retype..
Is it actually opening in Word or is it just a preview? Also it may be flagged as "Read Only"
Or cut whole table and replace with your own ?
Question Author
its not just a table or i would just redo it has a pic attached that i just cant seperate. thought someone might want a challenge. nevermind.
Can you alter anything at all? Put the cursor anywhere and hit the enter button if nothing happens, ie the line doesn't drop, I agree with WyeDyed it has probably been sent to you as Read Only.
Can the documents be sent again with the Read Only unchecked by the original composer.
Sounds like it yorky ! Agree original creator needs to resend with restriction lifted...
Question Author
yes i can alter, its in edit mode
Did I not say edit in first answer ? Lol...glad you've sorted it ! X
Question Author
i havnt sorted it. i was just saying its not read only, i can edit some but not all the bits i need to. i think the table i need to change has been inserted onto word as a pic
If it has been inserted as a pic then you will never be able to edit it. I suggest you delete the whole page it appears on and retype.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Question Author
thought that may be the case. thanks
