I have downloaded a number of mp3 audio files and I can't open them anywhere.
I don't have any problems with MP3 files so I assume there is a difference , which may be the problem. .

I have Googled it but can't find out what the difference is as the two formats seem to be used indiscriminately eg Mp3 is sometimes used.

your question came out well, didn't it?

Anyway - no difference that I've ever heard of.
Where did you download the files from, before you were asking about zipped audio files, it's possible either the unzip has corrupted the files or they were bad to begin with.
There is no difference at all. Virtually any player should play standard mp3 files.

What are you using to play them? Where did you download them from? Maybe the files have been corrupted somehow, or incomplete. What errors do you get when you try to play them?
The capitalisation isn't going to make any difference, but it looks like there may be different standards of the format http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3. Maybe your player isn't capable of playing them all ? Or as folk say you may just have downloaded from a site which have corrupted files.

It might be an idea if you have a look at what size the actual files are.

I was down loading 50 German audio language files that had been compressed. I unzipped them but they still didn't play. However the supplier emailed me: ( I have created a webpage with individual download links for each mp3 file. ) and I have been able to open them without too much trouble.
Thanks for your suggestions.
