Pet Passport Required To Travel To Ireland From The Uk

Hey,

I've been searching the internet for a while and I'm getting mixed answers to this question.

I want to take my dog from the UK over to Ireland (by ferry) and travel around Ireland for a week. He is micro chipped but doesn't have a Passport. Do I need one?

If you are travelling by ferry, why not contact them - they should be able to advise you.

Strictly speaking yes you do, but as I was told by stenaline it is not enforced just ensure you carry proof of vacinations and ownership if possible.

Yeah I just wanted some advise from people who have taken their pets recently. I will give the ferry a call and see what they say. I know the law changed lately didn't they. Thanks LyndaB and friedgreentomato

I travelled from Ireland to England in July with my dog and had no problems I just carried all the papers that I had for him with me just in case.

Theoretically you do, but as there is no border control between southern and northern they have no way of checking where an animal has come from so they never bother. We have loads of dogs go over for shows and they don't ever get checked.
