My eldest has had it 3 times and youngest twice. Why are they having it so much. Is it because their immune system cannot fight it? what do I do? They both have them today, big red angry looking spots.

Has it definitely been chickenpox every time?
Are you sure it's chicken pox? Sounds like they haven't developed complete immunity to it when they had it before.

\\\ big red angry looking spots.\\

That doesn't sound like chicken pox.
Who has diagnosed these cases as chicken pox?
It doesnt sound much like chicken pox

There are a lot of infectious rashes going round
this is why I wanted my granddaughter seen when her mum told me on sunday she thought the girl had chicken pox, i thought it was too but it's 24 years since my youngest had it, but the GP's receptionist said it was not necessary for the GP to look at her. I thouht that it would be a good idea to actually have it recorded in her medical records but the receptionist said it wasn't necessary to do that either. I then asked for some medication for her and so ended up taking her to the gp for anti-hystemines as she was under 2 years old and they have to be on prescription, whilst i was in there i asked the gp to confirm it was indeed chicken pox, which he did., he also said don't use calamine as it spreads the rash and makes it worse, he said use the anti-hystemine instead twice a day. Why it is not necessary to add to the notes i don;t know, how will they ever know the statistics on chicken pox, or will they just guess?

Good question Dot......it should have been recorded.

The above case sounds like Urticaria which is common and children, the cause of which is unknown.
Sqad the GP's receptionist needs telling that then. Mind you, there wasn't much going on there, she had to ask me how to spell histamine and i didn't know whether it was a y or an i (but that was better than her version), but then i sell books not work in a doctors surery.

are your kids perhaps allergic to strawberries, that's what i get if i eat strawberries

I have no idea and couldn't care less, they have kids of their own and i don't know if they are allergic to strawberries either.

Mr and Mrs sqad are not and that is the important thing...;-)
give over, :)

Kids gp has seen them both and confirmed they are chicken pox. I told hime they have had it, but he didn't seem that concerned, we got a wedding to go to on sun, kids were looking forward to it. I told them we may not go now. Poor things are itchy and now fast asleep. I put calamine lotion in their bath water, which helped, then i dabbed it on the spots.
Chicken pox are not big red or angry looking spots, they are small clear fluid filled vesicles (blisters).

They really do look red, and not single spots, they are lumps. I'm taking them for second opinion tomorrow i think
Try lavender oil on the itchy spots. I used it when my daughter had chicken pox, not only does it stop the itch the wee ones will smell nice and lavender has a calming effect too

I was prescribed Eurax lotion for a rash to help with itching and it did help and not as messy as calamine lotion (more expensive if you buy it over the counter or with a prescription though - mind you, if kids don't they get it free?).
