Seems fine to me
Verb 1. sojourn - spend a certain length of time; reside temporarily
spend, pass - pass time in a specific way; "how are you spending your summer vacation?"

It seems a very loose meaning for excursion but I think it will have to do. Thanks Psybbo
OED gives: sojourn: "A delay; a digression" and excursion as " A deviation from the direct course in argument or discourse; ‘ramble from a subject’ (Johnson); a digression."
