What Amp For Simple One Subwoofer+2 Speakers?

I would like to use my two wall mounted small bookshelf speakers with a subwoofer. Last setup with a standard CambridgeAudio azur amp killed the subwoofer.

Are there standard 2 channels + subwoofer channel amps out there? If not, would a 4 channel (+sub) work - with only 2 cophannels connected?
