Just occasionally it would be nice to be able to use my tablet out of my house, where there is no internet connection, eg hotel room, or family friends house. Which would be the best Dongle to get so that I would not be tied into any kind of contract, but would be able to access my email, surf the net, and use Skype for a short time.

Before buying a dongle, what sort of mobile phone do you have?
I have a smart phone that becomes a wifi hotspot so that I can connect my tablet to its data allowance via wifi.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Fleur. about a year old. That sounds quite complicated for an innocent like me, it is the facility to enable me to go onto Skype which I am most interested in.

If you use a dongle, then you are dependant on masts behaving themselves.

A dongle costs about £25 with some credit already loaded.

I've had 3mobile (crud) vodaphone(not as cruddy as 3mobile)

Orange isn't that great either, one son had a dongle withi it.

So how long would that £25 last, it would not be needed for several months at a time. - does it have a time limit on it?

As far as I know they all have a 'use it lose it' 30 day limit.

What tablet do you have? Has it got a slot for a sim card? Has it got a USB for a dongle?

It is beginning to sound very confusing, and probably not worth the effort. thanks for all the answers.
