I don't know how to start.

well start by regsiterting an account with ancestry.co.uk and then start building your tree from yourself or one of your parents and watch what happens! If you know enough about your grandparents, i'e names , approx birth dates and locations, then you might be able to spot them on the 1911 and see how that links you back in the cnesus hints that automatically appear next to your profile name.
give it a go, see what happens.
Thanks Dot, I'm going to give it a go, I've got my Mum and Dad staying the weekend, they will be quite interested. X
