Does anybody know how long it would normaly take for the inland revenue to process my tax rebate? I've been on an emergency tax code since January, and the agency I work for say that they forwarded my P60 over 8 weeks ago. I'm still yet to hear from HMRC.

A lad at work went to the tax office 4 weeks ago armed with all his payslips from last year and his new P60 (he's taken an apprenticeship and just doing 6 hrs on a saturday now) and they worked it out for him then and there and followed it up with a letter and advised he would have the money in his bank within 7 days. (£990)
I would give the HMRC a phone call if I were you.
You should not have waited this long ..no way..get on the blower !

Thanks guys
Maybe HMRC still don't have all the info they need - if you started on Emergency code in January they may still be awaiting a P45 relating to your previous employment so they can calculate your tax position for last tax year.
Also, do you have another employer?
I posted a tax rebate claim on a Monday evening. I had a cheque from HMRC by the Thursday lunchtime.

Chase them up!
Have you actually asked for a rebate? When I apply for one I send off my copies of the relevant documents together with my own calculation which I set out in a letter. My last one was processed very quickly.
