Oh dear, it would appear that even the captain's of industry have no interest.
Does the UK really warrant that amount to be spent? Were these islands of an equal size to say France, with its TGV etc I could understand but it does seem a massive outlay and the costs appear to far outweigh the benefits.

I struggle as it is to get a suitcase onto some trains, and there isn't always someone to help me haul it onto the train.

It would seem that opposition is mounting against this project. The difficulty is that no matter what the cost is supposed to be, the final cost will be much, much higher. It always happens with big projects. And if all it means that business people can get to Brum 15 mins earlier, I'm not sure that this huge cost is justified. As we are likely to get a new government before a spade is put into the ground, it looks like it will never happen.

Hopefully it will die shortly before we spend too much more. The goalposts have moved and surely the appitite for it has dwindled. The money could be spent on our current network which would have far more benefit for a much larger number of people.
