georges mum I have become a serious car booter of late I don't do it every week but every other lately because my aim is to move to a one bed bungalow and I cant take it all with me, this week I sold a brand new mini fridge,a QVC gadget for making burgers chips etc, various radios, mens shoes/sandals sell very well especially if almost new, picture frames, paintings, crystal decanters, a kettle and lots of clothes and various odds & ends, made about £90 after deducting entrance fee £12 and petrol.
The sun a shining and it made a good day out, treated my pal who helped to a pub lunch out of the profits.

Had a clearout some years ago and did a boot sale one Sat morn. We made £180 and gave the money to charity. The following week, we did a Sunday morn and made £120. That money also went to charity. It was all very boring though with some of the scummiest people I have ever met in my life. The stall holders were all ok, nice and helpful... but the clientele and the dealers were..... OMG, I dare not say. Never again. Nowadays we just give all the items to charity shops and let them deal directly with the public.

I was very disappointed at the result of a boot sale we did last week. We priced stuff really cheaply to get rid of it but it still didnt go., for instance i had some avon bits, eye shadows and shampoos, etc i priced at 50p and i didnt sell a single one! I had two large melamine trays, very pretty, decorated with flowers., people picked them up then put them down again even though i was only asking £1 each for them and they were clearly marked.
We did eventually sell a pasta maker, still in box for only £4, and a food processer still in box with beaters and instructions, together with a mini food processer, still in box. we were asking for only £4 each but in the end they hesitated and we let them go for only £7 for the two.
How cheap do items have to be to make people buy them?
After being there for 5 hours we eventually took £34.50p and out of that we had to pay the table fee of £6.

when I first started I was asking the genuine price on all items and people would try and beat me down and it was getting ridiculous, then I added an extra £2 on everything and let them bargain down to my original price, the punters seem happier that way.

i went sunday and got a realgood guitar case for £2 because it had got wet ,i soon dried it off .plants which i cant resist and a load of books at 25p each

People expect to buy stuff at car boot sales for next to nothing not realising that some things are really good value, after you may to get in £5 or £10 depending you would like to make a little profit. We recently had new baby clothes but they were passed by not worth the effort, we have just had a house clearance and give the stuff to a charity shop.
