What exactly do hives look/feel like? (Stupid question of the day!)

I've developed itchy parts on my legs and arms. Of course I've scratched them and now have white raised lumps to show for it.

I've not changed washing powder or any other potion. Not fallen in nettles or been stung by any nasties.

It started last night, but was gone by this morning. Now it's started again. I'm not on any medication and in good health.

Does this sound like hives? And what can I do to get some relief from the maddening itch?

Thanks for that boxy. I'll try antihistamine.

Or scratching my skin off...
Check your bed for bed bugs !! Nasty little blighters ! they hide in the day underneath your bed and mattress then feast on you in the night !
I'm unconvinced that sometimes the mind doesn't decide to make one feel itchy without external reason. I know I get itchy sometimes with no obvious cause.

I don't think it will be bed bugs, AP. The rash disappears by morning and starts at about 8ish at night.

I think it is hives caused by stress, there's a lot going on at the moment, and being me I've decided to worry about most of it!

And it's a new mattress, so I'd hope it's not infested already!

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I would expect nothing less from you, you old rogue!
I've started with what my gp says is hives, mine are a raised very itchy bumps or what I called heat lumps, usually where my clothes are tight to my skin. I get one and then a couple of days later get another one. At the moment I'm trying to ease the itch with calamine lotion. Looking at my medication there is a tablet I take regularly which has a side effect of hives, I haven't taken the tablet for a couple of days now and had no more itchy lumps. I'm hoping that is the culprit. I also have a antihisitimine nasal spray. It is a really depressing complaint I hope I have found the reason for them now.
