Grrrrrrr.

Someone called the landline about 15 mins ago. I was outside and didn't get to the phone quick enough so the answerphone clicked in. I have no idea who it is because now when I try and make an outgoing call all I get is music played down the phone. How can I cut them off?! This has been tying up my line for 15 bloody minutes. I hope for their sake I don't get to speak to them though...............

Would unplugging your phones for a short time work?
Unplug from the wall? No idea is that will work, but might be worth a go?

Well I unplugged it from the mains socket. Don't know if it worked or if they hung up but they have now gone. Having done 1471 I know now who it is - some cold caller from a bank (must be a cold caller because neither of us have any dealings with this shower of sugar). Mental note to answer that number next time and give them a piece of my mind.
I've not hung up properly myself before, about half an hour after the call I could hear a strange voice in the back ground calling my name, turned out my friend couldn't make a call until I'd put the receiver down properly. This was years ago though, I thought it would have changed but maybe not.
