Peak District Accomodation Ideas Please.

time to see who can give me some help again. looking to go to the peak district next year for a week in may want to visit, heights of abraham,matlock,bakewell and buxton etc etc......BUT i dont drive. derby looks close for rail links but has anyone any accomodation suggestions please near any train stations close by. thanks.

if you don't drive, and if you don't fancy cycling the high peak or tissington trails, then this is probably one way of getting to all the places you've listed:-

You might also like to consider staying in Sheffield. (I lived there for 20 years; it's a fantastic city and well worth visiting). It has good bus and rail links to some of the loveliest parts of the Peak District.

Alternatively, Bakewell is centrally positioned for the places that you're seeking to visit. The Red Lion would probably be my choice in central Bakewell. (Does pub B&B accommodation appeal to you?):

If you are wanting to visit the peak district then I don't think that Derby is a good place to be staying. You need somewhere more central, like Buxton or Bakewell (as mentioned previously).

thankyou all, so far for your help and advise. ive a lot to think about.! i have rail, road,bus and area maps to study, along side accomodation and places to visit maps.!! thankyou i look foreward to more ideas.

We stayed in Baslow at the Devonshire Arms. It's walking distance to Chatsworth plus several other pubs / restaurants in the village for evening meals. And as other posters say, there's really good bus services between the major tourist centres.

We don't drive either and found Buxton the most central for getting around. We went to both Matlock and Bakewell from there. Matlock is nice but I prefer Buxton to stay in. The Pavillion Gardens are beautiful. There are also several lovely walks in the area starting from Buxton itself.
The Buxton Opera House is well worth a visit too.
Don't think there are many of us non drivers around.
