Visual arts are pieces of art that you look at, pictures, sculptures etc.

Yes Zac of course you look at performing arts but surely you can see the difference, it's not difficult, as to whether the category is unnecessary, well we can only wait and see.

paintings, sculpture, as RATTER says. In a time of conceptual art it can be hard to tell the difference between some of these things, of course - how do performing arts differ from film and TV? By including morris dancing? But I guess if nobody uses the category it will show it wasn't necessary, and vice versa.
Joni Mitchel says it all when she comments that she's often asked to perform Clouds, Big Yellow Taxi etc. No one ever said to Van Gogh "hey, Vincent paint Sunflowers again"
Visual arts are defined that work on visual in nature like paintings, drawings, sculpture, architecture, crafts and so on. In some countries these arts have now become an elective subject in most of the education systems. The most important thing in visual arts is the application of colored pigments on a surface of a cloth, paper, metal, body and plastic.

If you are looking to buy any arts then try to visit the link http://www.husainiarts.com/, an online art store that sells fine arts like Indian arts, Islamic arts, and so on.
