I'm sorry but I can't answer this, but am glad you've posted. I've just bought a brand new Fiesta and have experienced the same thing - cutting out when reversing, not shooting forward though. I wondered whether it was me simply having to get used to the clutch on a new car, but now am wondering if this is a problem. I hope someone gives an answer. Otherwise, my car has a new car 'health check' in 4 weeks and I will bring it up then.

Is this a manual or automatic gearbox? If it is a manual and you are doing three point turns then as a learner you might not be used to it yet. Some clutches can be fierce and difficult to control but keeping slightly more revs on will help prevent stalling and feeding the clutch in and out will prevent it surging. Once you've passed your test you won't need to do three point turns ever again!
