To apply for a first passport, can you send a 'short' birth certficate or do you have to get a full one ?

You need a full birth certificate if this is your first application and you were born after 1983. You need to check the site mentioned above. The answer is on the first page.

Thanks, In A Pickle - I've got a full one, then. Didn't know there was any other sort!
I was a war baby - only ever had a short one (they did offer me an appropriate dog licence - I said no)
