Just been in bargain booze, bought 8 cans of cidre and got £20 cash back, jumped back in car, OH asked how much he owed me for the cider (cidre cider) I got the receipt out and told him, £88.33.

The man had mis-keyed the amount for the cider and overcharged my card! OH spun the car round and I shot in and told the guy. He was the franchise holder too and should have had better customer service skills than anyone!! He had no idea how he had done it but he gave me £75 and change in cash. My fault for not paying attention to the figures when i keyed in the number but i was too focused on entering my pin!

I can now spend the rest of my days advising people in the village to watch out for the guy in there overcharging. He's never have noticed if i hadn't spotted it and gone back. grrrrr

hc...I get you. The £20 wasn't being included.
lol Baza, loikes it :-D

BB, there's a certain shop which says you'll be surprised at the bill, I've been surprised a few times but not in the way that they hope.
It's always at the same check-out, might suggest, the next time I'm in, that they get it checked out
(no pun intended!)
I've never had 'cash-back' but I'd be surprised if it wasn't registered on the same receipt as the goods you pay for. Do they give a seperate receipt?
there's enough of a plot for one of those woeful country songs
Sometimes we make mistakes. Best to hold your hands up or say nothing. Wriggling is undignified.
Dot, Chill!!!!!
I went to the shop
You over-charged me
I didn't see it
You mist up my glasses
The village will see
You took the pee
I'll defy it
You'll deny it

shopkeepers almost always say 'check the amount and put your pin in' or 'check the amount and sign it'

whilst some shop keepers will deliberately over charge here and there, majority don't.

lets hope you - or any of your staff & colleagues, never key in the wrong amount by accident, and the person goes round on a personal vendetta badmouthing you to everyone in the village ...
svejk - she was telling her husband how much he owed her for the beers, not the full total of the receipt
So now you've got an extra £75 in your pocket to spend at the wedding.........enjoy!
Sorry joko. It doesn't read that way to me. Who on earth would mentally subtract the £20 from a £108.33 bill before telling their OH in the heat of the moment, or recounting the tale,on here, come to that.
If you let the men handle all the money, like the good ol' days, you could avoid a lot of this confusion, my dears.
Svejk, you are right. Mr Cake would never allow me access to anything more than pocket change, I might waste it on food or cleaning products.......as it is I waste it on gin, tonic and limes.......
You should have looked at the keypad to see what you were signing for dot, he is partly to blame, but you authorised it,
receipts are generally itemised these days - the two things will have been listed separately
I've never been given a till receipt from my corner shop or bargain booze. The card receipt has just the final total on it.
Sounds a little bit harsh Dotty to be so enraged at a genuine mistake. At least the poor man gave you the money straight back. I don't understand why you are so mad - every time we key in our PIN we are asked to check the amount - did you?
It's people like this who don't take responsibility for their own actions who cause much misery in the world. If djhawkes then goes to spread malicious gossip about the shop teller and one of his superiors hears this the poor innocent guy could be sacked and it was the customers bloody fault that he couldn't be bothered to check how much he was being charged.
£88.33 instead of £8.33 VERY easy to do I am certain it was not deliberate, he could have just refunded the amount back to your card . Would be very unlikely to happen to me, rare to have as much as £88 in my account in the first place plus I ALWAYS check the amount before i put the PIN in, I thought everyone did.
