Where to stay in Barcelona?

I'm going to Barcelona for the first time in March. Which area is best to stay in? I'll be doing the main sites, so would like to stay somewhere fairly central and not have to spend too much time travelling to get to places.

I too am off in March but we are 6 of us so we are renting an apartment.

How much are you looking to pay?

I stayed in a fantastic 3 star hotel in the perfect location it has changed it's name and been refurbished since I was last there but I think it is called the Hotel Albinoni now.

Just google Hotel Albinoni/ Barcelona and quite a few booking sites come up with the Albinoni included!

Stayed there many times, its a great city but whatever you decide do not go out with a bag, use a money belt or a zipped pocket, you have been warned.

Make sure you stay near las Ramblas it is near cataluna square and see the city on bus touristico you can hop on and off the bus as often as you like,also visit park guell,you will love the city,have a great time
