Footwear For Swollen Feet

Thought it was initially mainly due to the heatwave we had weeks ago but still getting really painful swollen feet which I'm guessing is part of the horrible rheumatoid arthritis flare I'm having while off meds though they have been getting swollen and feel like they are burning for weeks now.

I'm thinking maybe I need some more comfortable supportive shoes, preferably ones which look a bit pretty, or at least girly, too. I'm only 34 and can't do heels anyway.

Thanks both :) Some nice ones on both sites. Like the idea of the stretchy extra roomy ones on the Costfeet site.

I find it hard to get a balance between support, which tends to be closer fitting, and room for them to breathe (as they get so hot) and when they swell and such.

If all else fails I could go for a long flare style pair of jeans or bootcut to help as I only have little legs.

I have similar probs and my podiatrist suggests Hotter Shoes http://www.hottershoes.com/ They do extra wide and velcro fastening etc.

Thanks boxtops, easy to get on is a must too as I have issues bending, slip on sandals have been a godsend!

Could it be due to heart problem and water tablets would cure that.

I don't think I have a heart problem, not that I know of anyway.

I figured it was rheumatoid arthritis related as I'm having a flare generally at the moment. I'm at rheumatology on Monday so will ask the nurse what she thinks.

Hotter shoes are supposed to be really comfortable and some have velcro for adjustable sizing.

I have problem feet and actually wear 5E width shoes. I found some lovely shoes in bigger widths at Julipa, £30 a pair or two pairs for £50. I think they are pretty and I've had a couple of people comment - may be worth giving them a look.

I have similar problems with swollen feet (well foot actually) and I've been known to buy two pairs exactly the same in different sizes to accommodate the difference between them. I've found you can get little slip on trainers which look like little pumps and are very comfortable and actually look nice.
They are very flat though

I'm interested to know why RA makes feet swell and painful? I have the same problem (I have ulcerative colitis arthritis, so similar but different) and regularly have ankles swollen and soles of feet are burny, throbby and hurt when I stand on them. I'm also on no meds, but I think I should be!

Apologies for the late response, was knocked flat by some kind of stomach bug!

I guessed it was just the usually inflammatory thing around joints Scarlett, round the ankle and smaller bones of foot and other tendons and such. One benefit of a weekend in bed though is that I don't have feet like a troll again for now :)
