I was wondering if I had anything that it was respectable to drink at this time in the afternoon

(as I sit here, looking wistfully out of the window, where absolutely everybody seems to be having fun except me)

The answer, of course, is Pastis!

If we lived in France, a Pastis at this time of day would almost be de rigueur.

(see what I did there, with that little bit of French)

I'm sure I can see France from here. Or maybe it's just where the horizon goes blurry.

Ooh, crikey, I've just noticed ... it's 45% ABV ... I thought it was about 20%.

Well, cheers, guys. Or ... Santé!

If it were 20% ABV, the horizon would be merely indistinct and not a complete blur.

Okay okay ... I meant "indistinct"

lol
The French do top it up with water so I supoose it brings it down to the 20% mark... add some mint cordial it becomes a 'perroquet' or add some grenadine and it becomes a 'tomate'. Santé
Enjoy, wish I was there to enjoy one with you!

Well I have topped it up to a whole high ball of water.

I'm not going to drink neat pastis, lol. This is an afternoon drink ... not a hen night!

Hi, Blue.

How are Everton getting on this season? Good start, I hope.
I believe a company has started making it in the South West.

Yes, it's a Cornish Pastis.
Wel JJ, we haven't lost yet!
I like that, Zacs:)
Cornish? That sounds like a pastiche to me.

Anyway, I think absinthe is prettier. That nice green. Makes the heart grow fonder and all that.
Question Author
Like the absinthe fairy in Moulin Rouge.
Another one this afternoon perchance JJ? Could be the last opportunity for a while, if the weather breaks as forecast.
