What is the best form of central heating?

A nice cuddle in bed, Psybbo. Gas I think.

Great minds think alike, sex and probably gas - however, one tip I would pass on, after the experience of the mater's clapped out 50 year old Aga, is to make sure your flue is cleaned (not least for insurance). In her case, she was going through a 900l load in about 2.5 months, then we (I) had the flue cleaned, probably for the first time in 20 years, and, as I leave tomorrow and have just read the meter, she has used less than a 1/3rd of a tank on the aga since early June, (ok no heating....but).
What came out of that metal chimney was unbelievable, the really dangerous stuff ré fires about 3 ft under the top....(and not far from where my bat cave is).

Of the "conventional" fuels, Psybbers, mains gas is still cheapest. Then oil.
LPG is ridiculous, both in installation and running costs.
Cheaper than gas even, is a wood pellet boiler. You do need storage though, for a truckload of pellets.
I'm wiring one up at the moment. It's in an outhouse, but you can fire it up from inside the house.

Sorry Psybbo I thought you meant what form of central heating was the best, not what fuel. We have oil and it gets more and more expensive every month . last time was £360 for 500 litres which only lasts us 6 weeks in the winter and we only have the heating on a few hours a day as we have a solid fuel fire in the living room.
