...playing it at The Proms on BBC 4 might not do it justice, but so far, it's very good. It's probably my favourite piece of classical music along with Rachmaninov's No.2 Piano Concerto. Mr Helmet would "simply die" for anything by Chopin. Do you have a favourite classical piece?

i never tire of listening to mahler's seventh symphony
I don't have "a" favorite, but amongst my favorites is Mozart's Jupiter Symphony".

It was a performance with the vigour to be utterly satisfying in spite of being a repeat on BBC4. As to favourite piece. Any answer would be untrue as there are so many great composers but Richard Strauss "Alpine Symphony" has special appeal to an old mountaineer, and Debussy's "La Mer" haunts me forever.
Does anyone think this will make a difference?
