I have the same problem! I have had psoriasis since I was seven and I'm 23 now. Had loads of different lotions and potions from the doctors but nothing really worked. Try going on the sunbeds. I went on for 6 minutes every other day and it cleared up my psoriasis in about 6 weeks. Hope that helps! Expensive but effective.
i have had psoriasis for 27 years and the sun clears mine up also..you havnt said what the doctor gives you but dovonex ointment is good and synalar gel ointment is also very good..i had the puva treatment once at the hospital and that was also good..if you want to try natural remedys try taking b complex and b12 and st johns wort...and a good multi vitamin and you may see a difference..i used to be able to buy nettle shampoo and that totally cleared my scalp but i havnt seen any for a while..so i use neutrogena...or sometimes i get something of the doctor..you could also buy some liquid parrafin massage it in your hair and leave for a few hours then shampoo it off..that will clear your scalp a dermatologist told me that one and it works..

Hi abby,

Psoriasis is a horrid chronic inflammatiory skin condition that no one is 100% sure of the cause. I may be related to a gene haplotype . Triggers such as some drugs, smoking, stress and infection may also cause a flare up. It causes the top layer of the skin (epidermis) to grow faster than normal and as a result produces raised, scaly plaques. If it is really getting you down, have you told your gp this? There a lots of treatments available, if the ones he hasn't given you don't work is it:

a. definetly psoriasis

b. time to be referred to a dermatologist?

Yes, UVB and UVA rays are used for some people as treatment in hospitals but this is done under very controlled conditions and the selection of the wave length is different to that in normal sunbeds. I wouldn't advise long term or overuse of a sunbed for obvious reasons.

Hope you get ot sorted!

Have you tried 'lush' dream cream? for your body and 'snake oil bar' for your scalp?

I used to have really bad ecezema and they helped clear it.

thanx for all suggestions i will be trying them and hope they work.

My sympathies as well abby, I too am a sufferer.

I can also reccomend Synalar gel - rub it in before you go to bed, and after a few weeks you should see some improvement.

You might want to try Dovobet ointment on your tummy - that helps my body scaling quite a lot

Try changing your diet - cut out as much dairy produce as you can, and wash your hair with really mild shampoo.

Two pieces of good news - if the condition stops in one place - either body or scalp, it usually clears up elsewhere as well, and secondly, you may grow out of this in a few years, some people do.

The best natural treatment for psoriosis is exorex which has been on prescription for several years.
